Improving Moods - Procedure

You will be asked to fill out seven short questionnaires that will take around 15 minutes to complete. You will then be asked to read a description of the therapy you will be trying before downloading your workbook.

We are interested in what happens to mood over time, as well as the effectiveness of treatments designed you make feel better. Consequently, you may be allocated to a condition where we will ask you to begin the therapy in two weeks. If you are in this group, two weeks after you have completed the initial questionnaires we will contact you via email. The email will allow you to download your workbook and begin the study. If you are in the immediate start group you will be able to download a copy of Improving Moods workbook immediately.

The task in the workbook will take you around 5-10 minutes a day, and we ask that you try the therapy for a period of 14 days. After you have downloaded the workbook you will be emailed every other day and asked how you are you are finding the process. We will ask you some very brief questions, such as how easy you are finding the exercises. After you have replied to the final email you will be given more information about the background of the study.

We are looking at three different forms of therapeutic intervention so please don’t let other people know details of your allocated therapeutic workbook before the end of the study in around 3-4 months time.
