Module Aim
The main aim of this module is to introduce you to different ways in which psychology is applied in real world settings. This aim is achieved by introducing you to a practical skill and giving you the opportunity to develop and practice that skill (Skills-Supported Study Pack: SSSP) or by giving you the opportunity to explore an area of application of psychology in an external professional setting (Visits Programme).
Module Options
You will complete two options, one in Term 1 and one in Term 2. You may take either:
(1) two SSSPs
or
(2) one SSSP and take part in the Visits Programme
You will find a list of the options and information on each of these when you log in. Please note that the various SSSPs relate to four topic areas a)Dyslexia, b)Applied Perspectives, c)Data collection/ handling, and d)Mental Health. Most of you will be doing an SSSP in two of these topic areas (one in each term). You will be asked to rank these four topic areas in order of preference, and we are expectant that all of you will get at least one of your top two topic choices. Within each topic area there are a number of SSSP titles. You will also be asked to rank these in order of preference. Due to student numbers, it is less likely that all of you will get your first choice of title, but wherever possible you will get your next highest ranking.
Please make sure you go through ALL the pages, pressing the ‘Submit Choices' button, and then the 'Confirm' button at the end. If you don't go through all the required stages, your choices will not be registered and you will have to be allocated separately after the deadline and according to spaces available.
REMEMBER: YOU HAVE TO COMPLETE THIS PROCESS BY 12 noon 28th May 2010
